Dead college, deserted college… For four weeks, parents across the country have decided not to send their children to class. The goal: to protest against the creation, at the start of the school year, of level groups in French and mathematics in 6th and 5th grade classes. “This reform is completely out of step with the reality on the ground, it is the straw that breaks the camel’s back. How will it be put in place, if not by tinkering? The level groups require more teachers, more classes, everything we have been asking for for years without getting it,” chokes up Blandine Clerin, mother of two students at Lavoisier college in Pantin (Seine-Saint-Denis).
