Three people were injured yesterday (Wednesday) during a fight caused by supporters of the Kurdish underground PKK at Charles de Gaulle airport in Paris.
About 20 supporters of the organization, which opposes the extradition of PKK member Firaz Kurkamaz from France to Turkey, arrived at De Gaulle Airport, according to local media, and attacked the staff of the national repatriation unit accompanying Kurkamaz. Tension also arose between the supporters of terrorism and civilians at the airport.
Kurkmaz is known as a vocal supporter of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) and gained publicity for his outspoken and fierce opposition to the Turkish government. Following his attempt to get asylum in France, the French government decided to deport him to Turkey, which angered many Kurds who gathered at the Paris airport.
The incident ended when French soldiers took control of the rioters, who managed to injure three airport workers, but no arrests were made and Kurkamaz was extradited to Turkey.

Wide activity this week in Europe
The incident at the airport followed actions by members of the underground in Western Europe this week, mainly in Germany and Belgium, which were directed against Turks and Turkish delegations.
In Brussels, a fight broke out between residents of Turkish origin and a group of PKK supporters, who carried the organization's flags and shouted slogans on the way back from Navruz (Spring) celebrations. A number of Turkish civilians were injured. When officers arrived at the scene, several vehicles were on fire, requiring the use of water hoses to bring the situation under control.
In Hanover, supporters of the organization attacked the entrance to the Turkish consulate. No one was killed or injured, but the building was damaged.
