Anyone who is taking big steps towards retirement is probably wondering: How much money will I receive as a pensioner? It depends on the job – that’s how much doctors get.
Hamburg – The pension system in Germany is subject to constant criticism. Especially in times of inflation and high energy costs, many seniors no longer know how to pay their bills. Almost a fifth of people over 65 in the Federal Republic are even affected by poverty in old age. With regard to retirement provision, however, a distinction must be made between different professions and therefore also different types of pensions. For example, how much pension does a doctor get compared to a civil servant?

Average pension as a doctor - professional pension funds are responsible for pension provision
Retirement provision in Germany is extremely diverse. A large proportion of the workforce is compulsorily insured in the statutory pension insurance; Civil servants, on the other hand, do not receive a pension when they get old, but rather a pension - and for freelance professions eligible for chamber membership, the pension provision is even different. These include doctors, architects, lawyers and engineers. Anyone who makes voluntary contributions to statutory pension insurance should note March 31, 2023 - there is more pension ahead.
Professional pension funds are responsible for pension provision for the liberal professions eligible for chamber membership. In 2019, the average retirement pension from professional pensions was 2,135 euros. If you take a closer look at the individual professions, doctors and notaries had the highest retirement salaries that year. Accordingly, doctors received 2,457.70 euros from pension funds, notaries received 2,606.53 euros. According to the online portal

The 74-year-old pensioner Dieter Schmidt (name changed) can confirm this amount. He has worked as a company doctor for decades and reports in an interview with Die
Zeit
: “I receive a monthly pension of 2,760 euros from the professional pension fund.” According to his own statements, he is actually entitled to an additional 800 euros, but the pensioner was already there before his current marriage married. His ex-wife has therefore been receiving 800 euros a month as pension compensation since the divorce. After income tax, Dieter Schmidt has 2,450 euros left over from his pension per month.

reports, pensioners will receive an average pension of 3,170 euros gross per month in 2022. This means that the average pension that year was higher than the maximum statutory pension of 3,141.82 euros. According to
