Ticks may be small, but the diseases they transmit cause great fear. These plants in the garden drive away the arachnids.
Spring not only brings higher temperatures, colorful blooming plants and a good mood - it also brings less pleasant things awake from hibernation. The ticks are part of it. The small animals are rightly feared because they transmit diseases such as Borelliosis or TBE. But you can prevent it in your own garden with the right plants.

Whether in parks, meadows or playgrounds: ticks can be found almost everywhere there are plants. According to the
Bavarian Agricultural Weekly,
the tick population has also increased continuously in recent years
. But the chance of being attacked by the small arachnids in your own garden decreases significantly if you plant the following plants there:
Tansy
: With its pretty yellow flowers, tansy is strongly reminiscent of St. James's wort or St. John's wort. The wild plant usually likes to grow on roadsides, but can also thrive in the garden. To do this, choose a sunny location in the perennial bed. But it's not just ticks that avoid the plant from the Asteraceae family; The herb can also be used against moths in dried form in the wardrobe. The smell of tansy is reminiscent of camphor, as
Wildbiene.org
explains.
Catnip
: While the smell of catnip is attractive to cats and insects, it deters arachnids. The essential oils it contains are responsible for this. The perennial, which blooms from July to September, looks particularly good together with delphiniums.
Dalmatian Insect Flower
: What at first glance seems like a classic daisy is actually a natural insecticide. It is not for nothing that insect repellents are made from the flowers of the Dalmatian insect flower. According to
Aponet,
the flowers contain pyrethrum, which is also very effective against ticks. The plant also likes it sunny.
