An extraterrestrial civilization has been using humans for centuries. Many of the latter, completely unknowingly, serve as receptacles for the minds of dangerous alien delinquents. The host, male or female, does not notice anything unless their “parasite” manages to escape.
The aliens therefore left one of their own, nicknamed the Guardian, on Earth. He intervenes to receive new prisoners, but also in the event of an escape. To help him in his tasks, he is accompanied by a robot, Moon, capable of taking several forms, human or not.
The duo can also travel in time and, at the beginning of the story, intervene in 14th century Korea for a rescue operation, before bringing back an orphaned baby... At the same time, in this Korea of the past, Moo-reuk , a young magician, sets out in search of a dagger with mysterious powers.
He is helped by two servants, cats who can occasionally take human form, but enter into competition with other individuals, one of whom wears 21st century attire...
A film for fans of Korean culture, science fiction lovers
“Alienoid: Protectors of the Future” met with enormous success when it was released in its country two years ago, with 1.5 million spectators, a figure however not sufficient to prove profitable, since the project was apparently the biggest production in the history of local cinema. Which did not prevent a sequel, broadcast at the beginning of the year.
In France, it is therefore just the first part which is offered, only for two days, Sunday and next Monday, but in a large combination of several hundred theaters, all equipped with IMAX or 4-DX. A formula that has succeeded in other Asian blockbusters, like “Creation of the Gods” or “Godzilla Minus One”.
The feature film is primarily aimed at fans of Korean culture, but also fans of science fiction, fantasy and martial arts. Because it is all these genres that this cinematographic UFO mixes together, which passes without transition from a scene evoking “Back to the Future” to a fight worthy of “Tiger and Dragon” with its protagonists defying gravity, from a sequence of crazy humor (Moo-reuk's acolytes keep their feline reflexes even when they are in human form) to a downright lacrimal scene.
There are also some touches of horror, video games and Taoist digressions but, fortunately, no raccoons, in this Prévert-style inventory, a joyful catch-all during which we risk everything, except getting into trouble. !
