A 51-year-old worker from Geraci Siculo was injured by a firecracker during the religious procession in Petralia Sottana, in the province of Palermo. The man was supposed to set off the fireworks when he was hit by one of the rockets that was supposed to be launched from the mortar. He was first transported to the Madonna dell'Alto hospital in Petralia Sottana and from there to the Villa Sofia hospital by the 118 health workers. The prognosis is 30 days.
Investigations by the Carabinieri are underway, coordinated by the Termini Imerese prosecutor's office. It is being verified whether the accident was caused by the worker's negligence or by fault of the company in the province of Messina.
