There are no signs that Russia is planning an attack against NATO members, but the Atlantic alliance must be prepared for a future escalation, says Lieutenant Admiral Rob Bauer, chairman of the NATO Military Committee.
"There is no indication that Moscow is planning to attack any of the NATO countries: I don't think there is a direct threat," Bauer said from Latvia yesterday. Quoted by the local newspaper Leta, the head of the Atlantic alliance however warned that "Russia's ambitions extend beyond Ukraine and therefore" NATO "as a whole must be more prepared".
