Champagne! For the first time, more French thrillers were sold in France than foreign ones. A favorite literary genre of the French, the thriller has historically been dominated by Anglo-Saxon and then Nordic authors. Until 2022 when the noir novel made in France ended up reversing the trend and rising to the top of the podium, according to GfK, the organization which counts book sales. The 20th anniversary of the Quais du polar festival, which opens on April 5 in Lyon, promises to be a joyous one.
