Mixing archive images and contemporary testimonies, this rebroadcast documentary retraces the past of those who have often been forgotten by history. Pioneers of the industrial revolution, weavers have long evolved in the shadows, hidden behind the images of a working world populated mainly by men.

In the heat and dust of the workshops, to the jerky rhythm of the looms and the deafening noise of the machines which sigh rhythmically, this film tells the story of the struggle of the seamstresses who then had no more rights than the children with whom they worked. . Women whose needlework has clothed several generations, and who contributed to the reputation of the towns of northern France. From Normandy sheets to Calais lace, Amiens velvet and Roubaix wool, each of these towns owes part of what made its reputation to workers in the textile industry.
