Google is pledging to destroy the online browsing data of millions of users as part of a plea agreement in a lawsuit that accused the company of tracking millions of customers without their knowledge. The class action launched in 2020 pointed the finger at Google for deceiving users about Chrome's activities for those who browsed in private mode. The plea agreement, reports the Wall Street Journal, provides for the deletion of improperly collected data and the updating of information on how the data is collected when browsing in private mode.
