After final approval on March 22, the law partially legalizing cannabis for recreational use comes into force today in Germany. Midnight party at the Brandenburg Gate.
According to the new rules, adults will be able to travel with 25 grams of cannabis and grow up to three plants at home for private consumption.
In a subsequent phase, cultivation in non-profit clubs will also be allowed, each limited to 500 members. In a second phase of legalization, regional pilot programs for commercial supply chains will be created. Germany is already Europe's largest medical cannabis market since the government legalized the drug for patients in 2017.
