Stefan Raab announces a show fight against Regina Halmich – will that be the television comeback of the year?

It's all just an April Fool's joke - or should Stefan Raab fans actually be on their toes on April 2, 2024 at 3 p.m.? Then advance sales will begin for an event that could go down in television history. Almost ten years after his declared final farewell as a person in front of the camera, the now 57-year-old presenter and all-round entertainer wants to be seen on the screen again. “The final fight” is scheduled to take place on September 14, 2024 – a new fight against the former German boxer Regina Halmich. He has already gotten into the ring against them twice in his career, attracting media attention. And now again?

At least that's what a video that was published on Stefan Raab's official Instagram account on Easter Monday suggests. Raab, known for his extraordinary entertainment ideas, has been playing games with the public on social media since Good Friday. In a video posted that day, you can see his former show intern Elton rowing across a mountain lake to Raab. Elton wants to persuade him to make a comeback. Raab promises: “When I have nine million followers, then I’ll do something again.”

By Monday morning there were “only” around 2.8 million fans on Instagram. So now the further video. In it, Elton and Raab present their plan B. The idea: a boxing match with the world champion on September 14th. Until then, the retired entertainer needs to train vigorously. He looks fat, he's got a belly. No, no, obviously it's all just a good masquerade. Or not? Current photos by Stefan Raab are difficult to find; for years he has only managed to produce in the background and no longer take place in public. With an estimated fortune of 120 million euros, he could actually make himself comfortable by a mountain lake, munching happily. But after all the adventurous things he has experienced in his career on TV, it was clear that at some point he would be drawn back into the spotlight.

In 1993, the Cologne native became known as the presenter of the music show “Vivasion”. In 1999 he moved to ProSieben and developed numerous entertainment formats with his production company RaabTV. From 1999 to 2015 he presented the late night show “TV total”. And has always made others great. Particularly, of course, Lena Meyer-Landrut, whom he led to the Eurovision Song Contest through his show “Our Star for Oslo” – which she won in 2010 with the song “Satellite”. In 2000, Raab also performed there himself with the song he wrote, “Wadde hadde dudde da?”

,

which was enough for fifth place.

Stefan Raab liked to prove his sporting skills at breakneck speed. For example in shows like the “Wok World Championship”, “Schlag den Raab” or

. And of course in the boxing matches against Regina Halmich. In 2001, 7.35 million viewers watched, and in 2007 even 7.74 million. And in September? It remains exciting!
