Whether Instagram or TikTok, no hobby baker or influencer seems to be able to ignore a sweet baking trend with apples and puff pastry this fall. Why should it? After all, just five ingredients promise a simple and, above all, delicious treat that fits perfectly into the season. Of course, we at Simply Tasty can't resist this TikTok trend (and others) and present our own version of crispy apple rings with chopped almonds and cinnamon.

By the way, you can use the same ingredients to prepare not only apple rings, but also lightning-fast apple turnovers from the waffle iron. And if you prefer grandma's classic apple rings, you can simply make apple pancakes or southern German apple cakes, which are ready almost as quickly.

2 packs (270 g each) of puff pastry on the cooling rack
3-4 apples
1 egg, beaten
6 tbsp almonds, chopped
6 tbsp cinnamon sugar
Powdered sugar, if desired

The preparation is simple:
Preheat oven to 200 °C fan oven.
Unroll the puff pastry and cut the short side into approximately 16 even strips two to three centimeters wide.
Wash apples and cut into thick slices. Use a round cookie cutter to remove the core.
Wrap each apple slice tightly with the individual strips of puff pastry and place on a baking tray lined with baking paper.
Brush the apple rings with a little beaten egg and then sprinkle with chopped almonds and cinnamon sugar.
Bake in the preheated oven for about 20 minutes until the puff pastry is light brown.
Dust the puff pastry apple rings with powdered sugar if desired and serve warm.
