Are you a coffee junkie? You are not alone in this. Many people really need coffee. Anyone who wants to reduce their consumption should not do so suddenly.
For some people, going to the coffee machine is the first thing of the day. Because when the alarm clock goes off, quite a few people are tempted to throw it against the wall. The first coffee of the day promises first aid against the morning sickness. It has been proven that the caffeine it contains stimulates us and increases our ability to perform and concentrate. Researchers also found that coffee's mood-boosting effects go so far that it can prevent serious mental illness. Caffeine is said to be able to prevent the development of depression.
Taper off coffee slowly: rapid withdrawal poses danger
But coffee consumption can also have negative effects. Depending on how the body metabolizes the substances it contains, some people may react sensitively. Racing heartbeat, sleep disorders and problems falling asleep, headaches, nervousness and gastrointestinal problems can occur as a result. British researchers at Durham University claim to have found that even hallucinations are possible due to extreme coffee consumption.
Would you like to drink less coffee now or do you even need to avoid the stimulant altogether in the future based on medical advice? Then you should slowly reduce your consumption. Abrupt withdrawal can put immense strain on the body.

Withdrawing coffee too quickly can also cause hearing problems. Physical stress and fluctuations in blood pressure are discussed as the cause for this. Tinnitus patients could also be harmed. The German Association of Ear, Nose and Throat Doctors quotes British researchers who say that acute withdrawal symptoms would put even greater strain on those suffering from tinnitus.
