Behind the victories and trophies lies a woman with a difficult past: daughter of addicted and absent parents, child placed in foster care and then later, survivor of sexual assault. In 2018, Larry Nassar, the former doctor of the American gymnastics team, was sentenced to 175 years in prison. Seven charges were brought against him, in particular acts of rape and sexual assault against more than a hundred victims, some of whom were minors at the time. Simone Biles is one of them.
