A great voice of Francophone literature, the writer originally from Guadeloupe, MaryseCondé, died last night in her sleep at the hospital in Apt, in the south of France: this is what her husband, Richard Philcox, told the France Pressed agency.
Born in Pointe-à-Pitre on 11 February 1934, Maryse Condé wrote around thirty books on Africa, on slavery, on multiple black identities. You also taught for many years in the United States.
