From Lady Gaga's letters to Beatles autographs: these are some of the memorabilia belonging to Tony Bennett that will go up for auction on April 18th and 19th in New York. The sale, 'Tony Bennett: A Life Well Lived', is organized by Julien's Auctions.
The auction is a tribute to the legacy of the crooner who passed away in 2023 at the age of 96. Among the objects there are also his original paintings and sketches, musical scores signed by Amy Winehouse and Lady Gaga, a letter of appreciation from Martin Luther King Jr. after his participation in the 1965 civil rights march from Selma to Montgomery, Alabama.
It is estimated at between 20 and 30 thousand dollars.
There is also a gold and diamond Rolex estimated at up to 35 thousand dollars and an exchange of letters with some presidents of the United States. Some of these letters were sent on his 75th birthday in 2001. "Hillary and I - we read in a note written by Bill Clinton - are grateful for your friendship. I have had many privileges as president, among them the opportunity to see you perform on several unforgettable occasions."
“It's incredible to have the opportunity to see all these objects in a collection like this, representing Tony Bennett's extraordinary life, but also a part of our shared American history,” said Danny Bennett, the artist's son and manager.
