Although wrapping paper has the word “paper” in its name, it doesn’t necessarily belong in the blue bin. It depends on the nature – i.e. the material – of the wrapping paper. If you have used wrapping paper that has a coating, it belongs in the trash.
Ökotest
informs you that you can only put it in the waste paper or the blue bin if the wrapping paper is made of 100 percent paper

How do you recognize coated paper?
If you have coated wrapping paper in front of you, you will recognize it because it shines or shimmers. It is also harder to tear than real paper.

Use wrapping paper twice – give more sustainably
There are people who euphorically tear the paper off the gift. Then in most cases it's a case for the trash can. Others handle the paper more carefully and remove adhesive strips more carefully. In some cases the paper can then be reused. This is particularly useful if you want to live more sustainably. Alternatively, you can also use other packaging material, such as newspapers. However, you should use several layers, otherwise the sheet will tear quickly. If the shape and printing are suitable, you can also wrap your gift in old calendar sheets.
