Highlights: Istat, record employment rate at 61.9% in February. +41 thousand employed in the monthly comparison, +351 thousand in one year. The number of employed people - equal to 23 million 773 thousand - is higher than that of February 2023 by 351 thousand units (+1.5%). In February, on a monthly basis, the unemployment rate rose to 7.5% (+0.2 points), the youth rate to 22.8% (-0.7 points)

New employment record in February, with the rate rising to 61.9%. This was indicated by Istat, releasing the provisional estimate on employed and unemployed people.

In February, after the decline recorded in January, employment began to grow again due to the increase in permanent employees which reached 15 million 969 thousand. In particular, compared to the previous month, employment grew by 41 thousand units (+0.2%). The number of employed people - equal to 23 million 773 thousand - is higher than that of February 2023 by 351 thousand units (+1.5%).

In February, on a monthly basis, the unemployment rate rose to 7.5% (+0.2 points), the youth rate to 22.8% (+0.7 points); while the inactivity rate drops to 33.0% (-0.2 points). This was indicated by Istat, releasing the provisional estimate on employed and unemployed people.
