Cecil's finger that was cut off during the cleaning/barking of the Emek Medical Center
Sesila, 40 years old from Migdal Ha'Emek was referred to the Ha'Emek Medical Center after her right pinky was torn off while cleaning the house. The amputated pinky was brought in a bag, and in an urgent operation the doctors of the Emek Medical Center succeeded in bringing the company back.
"I came back from a day of work and started cleaning the house like every Thursday," Cecila repeated. "While I was washing the stairs, I slipped and held on to the stair railing, which is decorated with sharp decorations, and all I remember from that point is that my pinky was ripped off."
Cecila's husband called an ambulance that rushed her to the Emek Medical Center, and the team also collected the amputated pinky from the house, which was brought in a plastic bag. The emergency medicine department staff called Dr. Hagai Orbach, an expert in hand surgery and microsurgery, and together with the operating room staff and the anesthesiologists, the patient was rushed to the operating room in order to save the finger.

According to Dr. Auerbach: "This is a surgery that requires the irrigation of blood vessels with a very small diameter and therefore microsurgical skills are required. During the operation, we connect back nerves, tendons and bones in order to allow a return to function. Already at the visit to the clinic we saw that the result was good, the finger seemed vital and Cecila began to perform a rehabilitation process of occupational therapy. In most cases, a finger after a transplant does not return to full function, but we all hope that Cecila will persist in the practice and will soon return to regular activity without limitation or pain," he concludes.
"I am grateful to Dr. Hagai Orbach and to all the excellent staff who treated me during my stay in the hospital. You are amazing !", concluded the patient.
