Coldiretti announces a demonstration for 8 and 9 April at Brenner with thousands of participants "to stop the invasion of foreign food passed off as Italian while the EU puts the label at risk".
A similar protest took place in 2013 at the Italian-Austrian crossing. "To stop the invasion of foreign food products passed off as Italians which put the health of citizens and the future of Italian agri-food at risk, thousands of Coldiretti farmers from all regions are leaving their companies to go and guard the Brenner pass and unmask the " Fake in Italy" at the table", reads the note.
The appointment is for Monday 8th and Tuesday 9th, starting early in the morning, in the "Brennero" parking area at km 1 of the Brennero motorway - southbound. The Coldiretti farmers, led by president Ettore Prandini, will check the contents of trucks, refrigerated trucks and tankers with the crucial collaboration of the police.
"An action made necessary by the uncontrolled arrivals of food from abroad which often do not respect the same rules as national ones and thus create unfair competition with Italian products, causing the prices paid to farmers to collapse", reiterates Coldiretti who for the occasion will present the analysis on the "No Fake in Italy", with data on the phenomenon.
