Putin's spokesman, Dmitri Peskov, declared that "in fact" the "relations" between Russia and NATO "have now slipped to the level of direct confrontation".
Tass reports it. "In fact - continued Peskov - the NATO countries, the Alliance itself, is already involved in the conflict in Ukraine. NATO continues its movement towards our borders, the expansion of its military infrastructure towards our borders", stated the spokesperson of the Kremlin according to the Russian state news agency.
A contact between Russian President Vladimir Putin and French President Emmanuel Macron is not planned for now but Putin "remains open to dialogue" to resolve even "the most complex, global and regional problems". Peskov said this after the telephone conversation that took place yesterday between the defense ministers of Moscow and Paris.
