A visit and announcements. Emmanuel Macron arrived this Friday morning accompanied by the Minister of National Education Nicole Belloubet at a primary school in the 9th arrondissement of Paris, an academic training laboratory raising awareness among educational staff about autism. According to information from Le Parisien, this trip is a pretext to announce a battery of measures in favor of National Education, on teacher training, mathematics teaching methods, and finally the budget envelope.
Despite the tightening announced at all levels to reduce public deficits, Emmanuel Macron
should protect the Teachers' Pact put in place since September to ensure replacement or academic support missions for students in difficulty. Nearly 750 million had been budgeted for additional remuneration for volunteer teachers during the last school year.
Two new diplomas
Another expected announcement is the creation of two diplomas for future teachers: a license dedicated to preparation for school teaching and a license for students who intend to teach in middle and high schools. This reform must advance the entrance exam to the Bac + 3 level, whereas today it is at the end of the master's degree (Bac + 5).
Finally, Emmanuel Macron must generalize at the start of the September 2025 school year, for all primary schools, the so-called “Singapore” method of teaching mathematics, after implementation for CP and CE1 students from the next school year . This method, used in many countries and successful for 40 years, is based on a more concrete approach to mathematics.
