Wedding coming soon for Mikaela Shiffrin. The announcement of her engagement with the Norwegian ski champion Aleksander Aamodt Kilde has arrived, complete with a ring as a gift, naturally on social media and 'she said yes'.
A double blow for the two snow stars, because Kilde also revealed that he will return to skiing after the bad fall last January.
The couple, officially together since 2021, published photos on Instagram in which Kilde gives the ring to a smiling Shiffrin.
The 31-year-old Norwegian said he made his decision in hospital where he was recovering from a dislocated shoulder and right calf injury caused by the shock fall during the downhill run in Wengen, in the World Cup event on January 13th.
"There have been many ups and downs, it's clear, but the best moments are the intimate ones, with my family and, in particular, with Mikaela - Kilde confided to the Norwegian channel NRK -. During my hospital stay in Innsbruck I told myself it was time. So I'm engaged."
The American was also forced to stop for a month and a half due to her fall at the end of January.
Kilde, who in February declared that he was not sure if he would be able to return to racing, clarified that he will instead return: "I will return. I feel that it can be done, that it is possible."I am 31 years old and it is the best age in a certain sense . I can continue to 40, but this is the best moment and I have to give it my all."
Kilde won the overall world cup classification in 2019-20, as well as two downhill cups and two more in Super G. Five-time winner of the great globe and two-time Olympic champion, Shiffrin boasts 97 world cup successes, including 60 in slalom, her favorite discipline where she has won eight specialty cups.
