"A great perspective, a great vision, a great dream derive from the possibility of producing clean and unlimited energy from nuclear fusion in a not so distant future. Italy is the homeland of Enrico Fermi, in this regard it is second to none thanks to the know-how, to the research and development activity, to our production system: we can continue to grow, to give the world new discoveries and a better and different future". Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni said this while speaking at the "Science at the center of the State" event promoted by the Italian Scientists Association.
"If on the one hand politics, devoid of the support and competence of scientists, risks falling into demagoguery, on the other - adds the prime minister - the technical-scientific apparatus, devoid of a political order and ethical principles, risks lapsing into technocracy. To avoid these risks, science and politics must be allies to pursue the common good."
