Donatella Di Cesare, philosopher and professor of theoretical philosophy at La Sapienza in Rome, announces that she has been sent to trial following a defamation lawsuit filed by the Minister of Agriculture, Francesco Lollobrigida. The court hearing in Rome is scheduled for May 15.
"Everything revolves around the 'ethnic substitution' formula that the minister pronounced at the Cisal congress on 18 April 2023, causing quite a stir - states the teacher in a note sent to ANSA -. In the evening of the same day, in the episode of the DiMartedì program on La7, when I was asked to comment, I said that 'Nazism was a project of ethnic remodeling of the people and the conspiracy myth of ethnic replacement is in the pages of Hitler's Mein Kampf'. I added: 'I believe that the words of the minister cannot be taken for a slip, because he spoke as a Gauleiter, as a neo-Hitlerian governor'. This opinion of mine was based on my years of studies on this topic".
"It is sad to see that a minister, from his place of power, denounces a private citizen - concludes the scholar - Above all, the abuse of complaints to silence the voices of intellectual dissent is worrying. The exponents of a democratic government should be open to discussion and respond with the words and means of public discussion to even harsh political criticism. On the contrary, here complaints arrive like truncheons. However, I am not intimidated. I have faith in the judiciary and I will defend myself in court".
