A lemon balm and lemon mixture is being recalled due to possible foreign bodies. Customers can return the affected product.
Munich – Tea is becoming increasingly popular among German consumers, with some even considering it the new coffee. But the cozy cup of tea with honey in the morning or evening could currently have a bitter aftertaste for some consumers. Because caution is advised! Foreign bodies were discovered in a herbal mixture of lemon balm and lemons, which is also suitable for infusion with hot water. This comes from a report from the Federal Office of Consumer Protection and Food Safety.
Recall of organic herbs: These federal states are affected
Wurdies Kräuter GmbH & Co.KG is recalling the product “Organic Lemon Balm Cut” with a net capacity of 40 grams and a best-before date of January 18, 2027. In addition, loose kilo goods with the lot or batch number M-15251 were distributed to resellers. The reason for the recall is the discovery of foreign bodies in the product.

The product is sold almost nationwide and some federal states are now affected by the recall. These include Baden-Württemberg, Bavaria, Berlin, Hesse, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Lower Saxony, North Rhine-Westphalia, Rhineland-Palatinate, Saxony and Saxony-Anhalt.
Organic herbs recalled: What consumers should do
Consumers who have purchased the affected product should urgently avoid consumption. Instead, they can return the product to their shopping locations for a refund of the purchase price. It is not necessary to present the receipt. Consumers can obtain further information from the official customer service on the telephone hotline 09674-1376, available from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., or on the homepage at www.wurdies.de. (
