In Italy, between 25 and 54 years old, 62% of women work but the percentage rises to 64.7% for women without children and collapses to 40.9% for those with three or more children: this is what emerges from the Eurostat tables on employment of women by number of children and level of education in 2022, which also shows that the level of education matters more than the size of the family. In fact, with three or more children, 77.6% of women with a degree work between the ages of 25 and 54 and just 21.3% of those with an eighth grade education. If the children are under 6 years old, 16.7% of women with an eighth grade education and 73.3% of those with a degree are employed.
