, died of pancreatic cancer on Sunday March 31, at the age of 59, as revealed by his former partner Maïwenn in a post on Instagram. The director was married to the latter in the early 2000s, giving birth to their son Diego, 20, also present at his father's funeral. These took place at the Saint-Roch church, in Paris.

To support them, Shanna Besson, Maïwenn's first daughter, came with her father Luc Besson. Anthony Delon had made the trip.
