Infective endocarditis is fatal. This was established by the Rome Prosecutor's report on the death of the journalist Andrea Purgatori anticipated today by Repubblica. The disease was never diagnosed but it would have been possible to eradicate it with an effective antibiotic treatment.
This was established by the expert opinion of the forensic doctors to whom the Rome prosecutor's office entrusted the investigations to understand the causes of Purgatori's death and whether there was any negligence or oversight on the part of the doctors who treated him.
