Each era has its treasures. The one who today attracts the desires of the State is in the hands of unemployment insurance. The loot is enough to make you dream. This scheme, financed in particular by employer contributions and used to pay compensation for workers looking for work, will experience surpluses of several billion euros in the coming years. After amounting to 4.3 billion euros in 2022 and 3.6 billion in 2023, the balance should continue to climb to reach 11.5 billion euros in 2027, according to forecasts from Unedic, the managing body. This good financial health can be explained by the extreme sensitivity of unemployment insurance accounts to any improvement in the labor market. By creating the historic figure of 1.2 million jobs between 2020 and 2023, France has caused a surge in contributions. At the same time, the unemployment rate, which fell from 8.2% to 7.5% over this period, led to a reduction in the number of workers to be compensated.
