Rebecca Yarros' fans couldn't wait: the author has now announced a release date for the successor to "Fourth Wing" and "Iron Flame".

The first two novels in the “Empyrean” series sold millions of copies. Both “Fourth Wing” and “Iron Flame” stormed the bestseller lists and thrilled numerous readers, who contributed significantly to the meteoric success of the novels via TikTok. A series is also already being planned. Amazon has secured the rights to the fantasy series and is working on filming the novels. Author Rebecca Yarros, who has been writing books for ten years, no longer believed in the big hit, as she reveals in an interview with

Spiegel

.

The successor to “Fourth Wing” and “Iron Flame” will be released in early 2025

For years, with every new novel, agents and publishers had promised her that a breakthrough was imminent. “I really didn’t think it was possible for something like this to happen to me anymore.” The “Empyrean” saga will consist of a total of five books. The author recently announced on the

Good Morning America Book Club

when the long-awaited third volume would appear

. In a video broadcast on March 28, Rebecca Yarros shared, "I'm very excited to finally announce that the third book in the 'Empyrean' series will be released on January 21, 2025."

The author can't reveal much yet, but the title is there: "Onyx Storm" is the name of the successor to "Fourth Wing" and "Iron Flame". She also said: “There will be politics, new adventures, old enemies and of course dragons.” More details are to follow. You can already pre-order the book - which a considerable number of readers have already done. “Onyx Storm” shot straight to number one of the 20 best-selling books on the Amazon charts. The book is eagerly awaited. Also because “Iron Flame” ended with a cliffhanger that left many readers – as they say on TikTok – shocked and upset.

In the final phase of writing, the author booked herself into a hotel room, as she explains in the

Spiegel

interview. She worked there for up to 15 hours at a time for ten days. “I live in this book world. And when I've finished writing the novel, I'll leave her again and go home." In the

Good Morning America

Instagram post , fans show their excitement about the announced sequel and put forward possible theories about the plot.
