"If you follow an imperialist policy, the others will stiffen. And for others I'm talking about China, I'm talking about Russia. Probably if we had followed a different policy towards Russia, we would have avoided the war in Ukraine." This was said by Deputy Foreign Minister Edmondo Cirielli on the occasion of the 'NATO towards 2030' meeting organized by Fratelli d'Italia at the Palazzo Valdina complex.
"A softer, more diplomatic policy - he added - helps to find peace. Rigid, aggressive and imperialist policies are always negative. This does not justify the violation of international law".
"To those who accuse us of cynicism: goodness and rights must be proclaimed in a concrete way. Certainly - he adds - there is a difficult moment in Tunisia, but if Tunisia becomes a close partner of Russia, rights would certainly not be respected. One yes can fill their mouths with slogans, but it would not improve the lives of Tunisians. If countries like Tunisia maintain relations with us, they probably tend to do things that please us more. If we manage to keep countries in difficulty anchored to the West, we will certainly succeed to maintain rights that are important to us. It is the story of the entire Sahel: what is happening is the result of wrong policies on the part of France."
