"The principle of information pluralism is one of the cornerstones of democracy, which is why the attempts by Giorgia Meloni and her associates to trample on it sound alarming. Tomorrow the resolution on the application of equal conditions in view of the next European and non-European elections will be put to the vote in the Rai Supervisory Commission. we can allow the occupation of Rai's television spaces by the government. The majority's attempt to modify the resolution to pave the way and guarantee the government the ability to intervene on public TV by disguising the spaces as 'institutional communications' is serious." The president of the M5s Giuseppe Conte wrote it on his social networks.
"In the same way - he adds - the possibility of transforming Rai into a megaphone for Giorgia Meloni's indirect rallies is not acceptable, as already happened on the occasion of the municipal elections in Catania, without the limitations of equal conditions. Other signs of the seriousness of the situation are not lacking: precisely in recent weeks a parliamentarian from the Meloni majority, who already owns several newspapers, is trying to acquire through private negotiations - from the main state-owned company: Eni - the second national press agency, Agi".
"Let me be clear: the 5 Star Movement - he concludes - will not allow such a massacre of freedom of information and the press. We will do everything, inside and outside the Supervisory Commission, to prevent the government and the majority from carrying out this act of insensitive arrogance".
