From the dissection room in forensic medicine to the Berlin Charité to the best-selling author – that is Michael Tsokos. What you need to know about him and his books.
Michael Tsokos knows the depths of human existence, he has seen the effects of it - dead people on his dissecting table in forensic medicine. For example, victims of mass disasters and terrorist attacks lay there; Tsokos, for example, supports the BKA in identifying the victims. And anyone who knows horror can also write about it - they do that successfully as an author.

Until the end of 2023, Michael Tsokos headed not only the State Institute for Forensic and Social Medicine (LI GerMed) but also the Charité Institute for Forensic Medicine (IfR Charité) - he voluntarily gave up the latter on December 31, 2023. In a comment on
Instagram,
he cites the stress as one of the reasons: “I’m still a forensic doctor. I only handed over an institute. I am still director of the state institute in Berlin [and] continue to work in the section hall. When you've managed two huge institutes in a dual capacity for almost 20 years, at some point you've had enough. Otherwise I'll end up on my table again at some point." The LI GerMed is responsible for basic legal medical care, the IfR Charité primarily takes care of teaching and research, informs the
