It is called the Golden Section and it is the collection with which the young designer Chuang Yu Hsuan, a master's student in collection design at Polimoda, won the competition for the restyling of the uniforms of the reception and security staff of the Galleria dell'Accademia in Florence. The presentation today.

The line is inspired by Renaissance art, thinking about concepts such as "balance and beauty", as the designer explained, found in Michelangelo's statue of David.

"Meeting the project's requirements meant creating a design that was fashionable and unique, prioritizing the comfort and functionality of the wearer," explained Chuang Yu Hsuanla, 22, born in Jakarta, raised in Taiwan.

The line includes blazers, shirts, trousers, knee-length skirts, coats, badge holders but also scarves and ties with a pattern inspired by the floor of the room that houses the statue of David. The collection also pays homage to the cultural heritage of Florence, with elaborate embroidery and distinctive piping (a strip of fabric stitched along the edges to add definition) finishing the garments. The colors are the classic ones associated with the museum, such as white, navy blue and beige. The line is also sustainable, in fact dyeing has been reduced to a minimum and eco-friendly materials have been chosen.

The initiative was born from an idea by Cecilie Hollberg, director of the Accademia Gallery, who involved Polimoda: the young people from the master's degree in collection design created sketches, then reviewed with teachers and representatives of the museum. The competition required that the (sustainable) collection propose garments for each season while respecting the museum decor to make its identity stronger.

Furthermore, the students had to think about garments for every body type and every age, from 25 to 65 years old.
