An elderly woman died yesterday afternoon after being
hit by a van while she was crossing the road at a pedestrian crossing
. It happened in Alseno, in the province of Piacenza, where 118 also intervened. The 91-year-old woman died instantly. The driver of the vehicle, a 50-year-old, tested positive on the breathalyzer. The carabinieri of the Fiorenzuola company are carrying out investigations into the dynamics.
The medical examiner's examination will establish with certainty the causes and dynamics of the death of the victim, Fiorenza Pelasgi. The driver of the vehicle, who immediately stopped, has meanwhile been reported at large by the Fiorenzuola police, as well as for driving while intoxicated (he had a blood alcohol level above 1), also for vehicular homicide.
