Public transportation in the City of Buenos Aires and the suburbs could be affected in the next few hours by a
bus stoppage.
The Automotive Tram Union (UTA)
threatens to activate it this Monday afternoon
in case the companies do not deposit salaries with the increases they demand.
The union requests a
basic salary of $987,000 for drivers,
but companies in the sector warn that they are not in a position to face the 34% increase requested and that they can only maintain the $737,000 they paid in February because the Government He did not send them additional subsidies.
"Given the statements made by the representatives of the business sector that indicate non-compliance with the
agreement signed by the parties on 02/02/2024 and that was approved on 2/19/24,
alleging not having sufficient funds to do so Due to technical decisions of the Ministry of Transportation, the UTA declares itself in a state of alert, warning the population that, if said non-compliance is verified starting next Monday, the 8th of this month, the normal provision of public service in the area of the AMBA," the UTA said in a statement.
To make a decision, the drivers
are waiting for the salary amounts that will be deposited this afternoon,
the fourth business day of the month.
