Amazon customers have to forego a popular payment method. Anyone who does not take action in time will lose the points they have collected. A new product is on the way.
Munich – It's been over for a few days: Amazon's Visa card is history. The cooperation between Amazon and Landesbank Berlin AG ended on March 26th. This means that many customers no longer have a popular payment service. Some series have also no longer been available on Amazon Prime since March. The most important information at a glance.
“All card accounts already closed”: Amazon payment service no longer available
Amazon's Visa card brought several benefits to its users. In addition to cashback points at Amazon, cardholders paid no card fee in the first year, started with a credit of 20 euros and the whole thing was even completely free for Amazon Prime members. For non-Prime customers, the card cost 19.99 euros from the second year onwards. However, it could be expensive, especially with foreign withdrawals and foreign currency fees.

However, the payment service has no longer been available since the end of March. Amazon informs in a message: “All card accounts have already been closed”, meaning customers can no longer use their card for Amazon. The company is already working on a new product that will replace the Visa card. The company also informs: “The use of credit card banking is possible up to 60 days after the account is closed.” Customers should therefore download their card statements from their mailbox in good time.
Bonus points from Amazon Visa card expire – if customer does not agree in time
The Berliner Landesbank informed all customers in advance. In order not to permanently lose their customer account with the bank, customers were able to agree to the changed conditions in order to extend the card contract with Landesbank Berlin and thus apply for a “Visa Card Extra”. However, use with Amazon is no longer possible anyway, and Amazon customers will also lose further benefits when the card ends.
Anyone who has not agreed to the conditions will automatically have their subsequent card canceled. “The outstanding invoice amount will be collected in full and your Amazon.de VISA card can no longer be used from this day on,” explains the bank in a statement. In this case, the bonus points have also expired since March 26th.
