Bad news for BFMTV fans. This Sunday, a
“technical incident”
disrupted the broadcast of the continuous news channel, announced the media owned by the Altice group on its website, in a message posted on its site at 4:53 p.m. An hour later, at 6:05 p.m., the channel was still not accessible, on televisions or via its website. The latter was always updated, as were the channel's social networks. The broadcast was finally able to resume at 6:20 p.m.
Also affected by the incident, RMC radio was accessible again earlier, the group said, adding that its
“teams remain mobilized to restore the other antennas as quickly as possible”
. The other regional channels, as well as BFM Business, were also inaccessible, and played a trailer on a loop. According to our colleagues from Le
Parisien
, the channel was the victim of an
“air conditioning failure which led to overheating of the final control room and its shutdown”
. The system would have remained in difficulty until the temperature fell again.
This technical problem notably disrupted the debate scheduled for Sunday at 6 p.m. between the heads of the European list François-Xavier Bellamy and Raphaël Glucksmann. The channel finally started working again around 6:20 p.m. Journalist and presenter Benjamin Duhamel regretted a
“technical problem obviously beyond our control”
, presenting the editorial staff's apologies to viewers. The face-to-face meeting was therefore able to begin, around twenty minutes late. Other antennas, however, remained inaccessible, such as BFM Business. Contacted for more information, the company has not yet gotten back to us.
