The Iraqi Council of Ministers affirmed today the right of Iraq to take all legal and diplomatic measures necessary to defend its sovereignty and security.

The Iraqi presidency condemned yesterday the attacks on the country targeting sites of the Popular Mobilization, stressing that these attacks hostile act blatantly aimed at distracting Iraq from its efforts to eliminate remnants of the "Daesh" terrorist organization.

The Prime Minister Adel Abdul-Mahdi said today that Iraq is ready to respond firmly and by all means available to any aggression launched from outside or inside the country.

"The Prime Minister briefed the latest political and security developments at today's cabinet meeting and briefed the members on the results of ongoing investigations into attacks on weapons and ammunition depots in a number of Iraqi areas and subsequent preventive measures," Mahdi's office said in a statement. He also said that all the stores will be protected as well as explaining the strategic directions and plans in dealing with potential developments.

"The right of Iraq to take the necessary legal and diplomatic measures through the regional institutions, the Security Council and the United Nations to defend its sovereignty and security by all legitimate means," the council said.

The Council also stressed the readiness of Iraq to respond firmly and by all means available to any aggression launched from outside or inside Iraq.

Abdul Mahdi pointed to the ongoing diplomatic mobility with all neighboring countries, Arab, regional and friendly countries and the international community at the highest levels to explain the position of Iraq and mobilize regional and international support for solidarity with it and with its just position and its policy in support of peace and stability.

The statement stressed the Council's emphasis on Iraq continues to play an influential and constructive role in defusing the crisis that threatens the security of the region and the world and undermines efforts to fight the terrorist organization "Daesh".

The Popular Mobilization Commission announced recently by its Vice President Abu Mahdi al-Mohandes that the United States has introduced four Israeli enemy drones to Iraq to target Iraqi military headquarters and that the US military allowed US and Israeli aircraft to carry out repeated attacks on the crowd.
