(CNN Spanish) - Colombian singer Juanes visited Mexico City, where he had a press conference with local and international media. Among the issues he addressed were the situation that the Amazon is going through, his appointment as “person of the year” in the 20th edition of the Latin Grammy and his upcoming record production, among others.

“What is happening in the Amazon is an incalculable tragedy, and when you see the madness of these leaders who are the ones who are running the planet, it is terrifying. We need a lot to look into each other's eyes and recognize each other, we are dividing all the time, politics divides us, ”says the singer whose real name is Juan Esteban Aristizábal Vásquez.

His work as a musician has led him to be awarded with 17 Latin Grammy Awards, among which "Best Album" and "Song of the Year."

This year, Juanes will receive the “Person of the Year 2019” recognition from the Latin Recording Academy® (Latin Grammy) and said: “I am super excited, it is an immense honor for me. I am very happy that the Academy has chosen me to be part of this exclusive group and I am very happy to imagine how it will be. The dynamic is that colleagues go and make their versions of my songs. It has been 20 years of a very special path. ”

About Sebastián Yatra ...

Recently, the native of Medellín finished the recording of his next album that will be titled “More future than past”, which will go on sale at the end of 2019, will have 10 or 12 tracks and will be full of cumbia, huasca and vallenato. On September 6, the new single “Bonita” will be released, which he recorded with his Colombian compatriot Sebastián Yatra: “It is a subject very influenced by the vallenato, which is one of the genres that I love. I did the song in Los Angeles with two producer friends and then I met Yatra at a party in Madrid and I showed her the song, she heard it, she loved it and she went to the studio. It is a song too cheerful, connected with love and joy, very cool. ”
