The Pontchaillou University Hospital in Rennes confirms its ninth place. He remains 1st in cardiac surgery, 4th in the treatment of cancers of the liver, pancreas, stomach and esophagus, or 8th in surgery of the arteries.

The CHP Saint-Grégoire near Rennes (Ille-et-Vilaine) for its part loses its place of n ° 1 in the category of private clinics. The health facility was at the top of the ranking for 9 years. It falls in third place, behind two mega-clinics: one, the polyclinic of Reims-Bézannes (Marne), is the merger of three institutions in Reims; the other, Santé Atlantique, also emanates from a merger, and is based in Saint-Herblain (Loire-Atlantique). "It's still a very good place and we remain the first in Brittany," however ensures Nicolas-Biolou West-France , general manager of the private hospital (CHP) Saint-Gregoire.

New classified specialties

In total, Le Point has established 122 rankings of hospital specialties to distinguish establishments according to their specialty (s).

Twelve new categories have emerged such as the treatment of childhood and adolescent cancers (kidney, bone, brain, acute leukemia, lymphoma ...) or sleep disorders. For this last category, there are the Northern hospitals of Lyon (Rhône), La Pitié-Salpétrière and the Bichat hospital in Paris. Testicular surgery or epilepsy was also retained.

Quality care

"We are undeniably well cared for in France," said Jerome Vincent, journalist at Point who established the winners with his colleague with François Malye. "The quality of care is good, access to care is relatively easy or very easy. The level of repayment, even if there is sometimes a charge, is extremely good . The journalist acknowledges, however, that inequalities remain across the territories, evoking "the myth of being treated everywhere at the same level" .

Le Point , devotes a full page of his magazine to the methodology used and ensures to have worked independently, "without any agreement with the Ministry of Health or any of its agencies, or with any professional federation, union, academy, private company or association of the world of the health whatsoever " .
