Given the proximity of the tropical storm Dorian to Puerto Rico, Governor Wanda Vázquez said the island is better prepared than on other occasions.

"We are all united so that Puerto Rico has a much faster response, so obviously the exhortation is to listen very well to the instructions, calmly, activate your emergency plans," said Wanda Vázquez at a press conference.

On the other hand, the governor announced that classes will be suspended on Wednesday in schools, as well as the work of public servants who are not a response and emergency team.

“Puerto Rico has gone through worse situations and I trust that the people of Puerto Rico are prepared, we will continue, we will wait what is the result of this emergency and we will be much better prepared, we are better prepared people of Puerto Rich to meet the needs you have in this event, ”added the authority.

For his part, Jennifer Gonzalez, resident commissioner of the government of Puerto Rico, said the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) installed seven warehouses on the island. "These stores have everything from generators, equipment to be able to assist in an emergency and all are supplied," he said. He added that there were 71,000 awnings in the stores feel.

"It is important that people know that there is a big difference in all the lessons they learned in the past hurricane," Gonzalez added.
