8/28/19 4:18 AM For many Berliners, this news may seem surprising: in Berlin, public transport is faster from A to B than in many other major cities in the world. Researchers come to this conclusion around the Italian Indaco Biazzo from the Technical University in Turin. In their study, they analyzed the speed of the public transport network of 32 cities in Europe, North America and Australia. But be careful, there is a catch on this message: The time was calculated, among other things using the data available online on timetables - not based on the actual travel time. Berlin scored the best compared to the remaining 31 cities selected by the researchers - followed by Paris. "Berliners and Parisians can explore the space (around them) at least 20 percent faster than others," the study said. Copenhagen ranks third, followed by Helsinki, Athens, Prague, London and New York in eighth place. Taillights in the city comparison are Washington, San Diego and Mexico City. The researchers divided the cities into small, hexagonal fields for their calculation, at 0.2 kilometers per side. They used only areas in which the city dwellers lived at most 15 minutes walk from a public transport station. The average travel time in the time from 6 to 22 o'clock they calculated from footpath plus journey. The aim of the researchers was not only to measure how quickly places in a city can be reached by public transport. 8/28/19 4:09 AM What happened while you slept? Here are the news from the night: Trump wants to release rainforests in Alaska for deforestation: They are considered a sanctuary for animals and as a tourist magnet - but now threatens the woods the ax Governors are against Jair Bolsonaro: With his clatter, the President of Brazil isolated increasingly.
