(CNN Spanish) - Octavio Dotel, former Major League baseball player, will be released under economic guarantee, impediment to leave the country and periodic presentation before Dominican justice.

This was decided on Thursday afternoon, in Santo Domingo, capital of the Dominican Republic, Judge Alejandro Vargas.

The baseball player must pay a total of $ 19,474 as an economic guarantee.

The former baseball player was accused by the Public Ministry of the Dominican Republic of allegedly being part of an international drug trafficking network led by Cesar Emilio Peralta, who remains a fugitive. From the moment of his arrest he pleaded not guilty and said he had no ties to the alleged leader of the drug trafficking network.

Although Dotel will recover his freedom, he will continue to be linked to the process, as Judge Vargas ruled. This is because at the time of his arrest he possessed an illegal firearm. However, the justice could not prove that the expelotero was linked to the crime of money laundering as the Public Ministry had raised in his investigation.

Dotel must appear before any call from the authorities while the investigations of the case are concluded.
