Istanbul-Sana
The mayors of Diyarbakir, Mardin and Van who were dismissed by the Recep Tayyip Erdogan regime described their dismissal as a "political coup" and said they would file a complaint before the judiciary to protest it.
"We have been deprived of the opportunity to serve the people because of the political coup on August 19," Mardin Mayor Ahmet Turk told a news conference in Istanbul. "The decision to sack us is a political aim to prevent the people from defending and intimidating democracy." He restrained his efforts to bring about change in Turkey. ”
"The Peoples Democratic Party will not provide any legal means to challenge this decision," said Mayor of Van Badiعةa Özükçe Ertan at the same press conference.
Several Turkish cities witnessed sit-ins and mass protests over the days of the Turkish Interior Minister's decision on the 19th of this month to dismiss mayors of the Democratic People's Party, months after they won the municipal elections on 31 March.
The members of the Turkish parliament of the said party, along with the leaders, members and supporters of the party expressed their condemnation of Erdogan's policies, stressing that it aims to eliminate democracy once and for all.
