Center for Support and Development of Women in Deir Ezzor .. Various activities to empower women economically

In order to support women and enable them to enter the labor market, the Center for Women's Support and Development, affiliated to the Family Planning Association Branch in Deir Ezzor, conducts training and vocational training courses, activities and various activities to meet the needs of women and develop their skills.

Iyad Shehab, head of the Family Planning Association branch in Sanaa, told SANA that the center was opened in March last year and provides its services with the support of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).

Shehab pointed out that the center targets battered women who have been subjected to psychological and economic pressures to train them in several professions, including women's haircut courses, beauty and design clothes, sewing and crochet, in addition to computer courses in English, French and mathematics, in addition to providing psychological support and developing their skills through awareness sessions provided by specialists for beneficiaries.

Shehab pointed out that what is produced by the beneficiaries during the training sessions, the association participates in exhibitions and marketing festivals in addition to the establishment of a bazaar at the end of each year to introduce their products and find job opportunities for them, pointing to the study of granting graduates a certificate of practicing a profession by the union of craftsmen, especially that the center grants graduation certificates to beneficiaries Of its sessions.

The head of the Family Planning Association branch in Deir Ezzor, there are proposals and plans the center is studying to expand its services to women to include courses in nursing and first aid.

In terms of numbers, the Director of the Center for Support and Development of Women affiliated to the Family Planning Association branch in Deir Ezzor Ikhlas Al-Okaili said that the center has carried out since its launch in 2018 until last month 5 courses of women's haircut and beauty and two crochet courses and 3 courses of fashion design and sewing and 9 courses of English and French language course and the like in mathematics The number of women benefiting from its courses to 380 and 4449 psychosocial support sessions, pointing to the Center's endeavor to open new courses for cooking and fitness education in addition to a cultural club.

A number of women beneficiaries confirmed that the center's courses opened the way for them to enter the labor market and acquire new occupations to help them improve their living conditions.Heifa Al-Alaiwi said that she benefited from the women's haircut course carried out by the center and is now working in this profession in her home to support her family while pointing out the faith of Lebanon From the countryside of Deir Ezzor, she benefited from the sewing course and is now working on tailoring clothes at her home.

Founded in 1974, the Syrian Family Planning Association is a member of the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF).
