[London, 29th Reuters]-British Prime Minister Johnson announced on November 29 that he would consult with the EU side twice a week to revise the withdrawal agreement agreed with the European Union.
Johnson claims to leave at the end of October without an agreement with the EU. It also calls for the removal of safeguards (backstops) to avoid strict border control with Ireland for draft withdrawal agreements that have been rejected many times by the British Parliament.
Johnson said, “It ’s reassuring that the discussions with the EU leaders over the past few weeks have been positive about the backstop alternative from the EU, but it ’s time to speed up the discussion.” He stated that he thought it would be necessary to have more frequent meetings to leave the possibility that the draft agreement could be agreed upon the withdrawal on October 31.
The British government explained that there are still disagreements between the UK and the EU in several key areas, but both are willing to make positive efforts to find a solution.
