(CNN Spanish) - There is an active shooting situation in the area between the cities of Midland and Odessa, Texas, according to Devin Sánchez, a spokesman for the city of Odessa.
There are 10 confirmed injuries, possibly up to 20 injured, Sánchez said. There is a confirmed dead person, he said. One of those people is an agent of the law, but it is not clear if the officer is injured or dead, Sanchez said.
Sanchez said there is a person in a golden Toyota driving through shopping centers and shooting people from his vehicle. The area is on the east side of Odessa.
The Midland Police Department put on its Facebook page: “We believe there are two attackers in two separate vehicles. It is believed that one suspect is in the Cinergy in Midland and the other is believed to be driving in the Loop 250 in Midland. The two vehicles in question are: a small golden / white Toyota van and a USPS postal van. Stay away from these areas and stay inside. ”
Sanchez says authorities are urging people to stay inside.
According to a tweet, the Permian Basin of the University of Texas is closed.
